DEXTER is a surgical robot from the Swiss company Distalmotion designed as a hybrid platform: the surgeon can switch between laparoscopic and robotic technique within one procedure at the touch of a button, with no redocking required. The draped console keeps the surgeon inside the sterile field for bedside access, and the system is small and mobile enough to be moved between operating rooms without facility modification. Its open architecture lets surgeons keep their preferred visualisation and advanced devices. Distalmotion reports a docking time of about four minutes.
