How RoboDex researches robots and connects technologies, companies, countries, and collections in the knowledge graph.
How robots are researched
Research begins with identity: official name, manufacturer, and public existence. Editors then gather classification, timeline milestones, specifications, and media from the source hierarchy below. Discovery tools may suggest candidates; humans decide what enters the public catalog.
Sources hierarchy
- 1 — Official manufacturer or lab documentation
- 2 — Peer-reviewed papers and institutional publications
- 3 — Standards, patents, and formal filings
- 4 — Reputable news and conference materials (context)
- 5 — Secondary roundups (supporting only, never sole evidence)
Technology relationships
Technologies (for example SLAM, ROS 2, LiDAR) are first-class entities in the Technology Library. Robots link to technologies they demonstrably use; technologies link related concepts. Links require a documented connection — not buzzword proximity.
Company relationships
Every robot points to a maker. Companies aggregate their public robots, headquarters, and focus areas. Related companies are suggested by shared country, category, or technology overlap when evidence supports the association.
Country relationships
Countries summarize ecosystems: robots and companies headquartered or primarily associated with that nation. Atlas pages help readers compare regional robotics activity without inventing national rankings from incomplete data.
How collections work
Collections are curated exhibits — editorial groupings such as humanoids, warehouse automation, or medical robots. They are not automatic search dumps. Membership should be explainable from the collection’s theme. Browse Collections.
