Image Attribution Policy

RoboDex aims to show who made an image, where it came from, and under what license it may be used. Attribution is part of catalog trust — not an afterthought.

• Official manufacturer images from product pages, press kits, and documentation.
• Research institutions and labs that publish photographs of platforms they built or tested.
• Government sources such as public-domain agency photography where licensing is clear.
• Open repositories with explicit licenses (for example Wikimedia Commons), when they depict the correct robot.

AI-generated or heavily AI-edited images must be labeled. RoboDex separates illustrative AI media from attributable photographs of real robots. Unlabeled synthetic imagery is not treated as documentary evidence of a platform’s appearance.

When media is attached to a robot or company dossier, editors record source URL, page, license, photographer or credit line, and review notes where available. Public viewers surface key attribution fields so readers can verify provenance.

If a credit is missing, wrong, or an image depicts the wrong robot, contact us through Contact or follow the Corrections Policy. Rights holders seeking removal should use the DMCA procedure.
